How the morning was spent..

7:30 a.m. Feed Finley...put her back in her crib, go back to sleep (Hudson got up at this point and decided it was time to start his day...get his clothes on, play in his room)
8:30 a.m. Hudson comes in saying Walker is crying and asking if he can go in and talk to him...sure...in he goes.
9:00 a.m. Hudson comes in and says Walker wants to get out of his crib...so I stumble, half asleep to his room and get him out of his crib (now I'm going to let them play and I"m going to sleep until Finley wakes up...the gate is up...nothing they can get into upstairs)
9:10 a.m. I hear Hudson and Walker talking about going to Hudson's "basement"...but they're always pretending.
9:20 a.m. Hudson runs into my room saying that Walker is stuck in "his basement"...so I run to Hudson's room, not knowing what I'll find...
9:26 a.m. Walker is LOCKED INSIDE the little crawl space that's in Hudson's room. DO NOT PANIC
9:27 a.m. To my room to get bobby pins and straight pins...how do you unlock a door with a little hole from the outside?? I tell Hudson we'll call the police if mommy can't get Walker out. Walker is inside just saying "I can't get out, Mommy." I try to talk him through how to turn the little part in the middle of the door knob, to which, he twists the locked knob and then says "I can't do it."
9:30 a.m. I try to call Tony...can't get him. I call my mama at work and tell the person it's an emergency
9:31 a.m. Mama says to get a little screwdriver or a credit card...I get these things, still can't get the door open, still trying to talk Walker into unlocking the door himself.
9:35 a.m. or so Mama puts me on hold to go look at a door knob at the store...I speak the blood of Jesus over the door and ask that we can get it open
9:37 a.m. Mama comes back and asks if I have an ice pick (what???) or a coat hanger (this I have) She also asks if it is a pop lock or a turn lock...which makes a difference b/c instead of just popping something in there, I have to stick something in there and turn.
9:38 a.m. I get a coat hanger, straighten it, stick it in the knob and ask "what do I do know?" She tells me to try and turn it, but we don't know which way...I turn one way and then the other all the while twisting the knob
9:40 a.m. Door opens and my sweet Walker comes out and says with a BIG smile..."Mommy, you got me ooowwwt." I giggle b/c he's wearing his jammies and this john deere hat turned crooked on his sweet head, and he's not phased by the fact that he's been locked in a little crawl space for the last 20 minutes.
Thank you God for the sweet spirit of this baby...he's so content wherever he is, whatever he's doing...what a wonderful gift!

It's the little things

Tonight, we came home from the grocery store in the rain, and my sweet and (just sometimes) sour Hudson wanted to go out and play in the rain with his umbrella and rain boots. The only umbrella we could find is Walker's that he broke the day he got it, so I got out the big umbrella and let them go on the deck. I didn't get any pictures b/c I was cooking dinner, but they had a big time going in and out trekking in water and giggling. The big umbrella ended up just being propped up on the deck and they got under it like a tent...how cute! I wish I'd had my camera close. Here's a picture of them on a sunny day in the frog boots! It's the little things that make big memories, right? I think I should make this a regular occurrence...playing with umbrellas and rain boots in the rain!

2 Kings and a Sweet Lil' Princess

My two kings...and my baby princess. Walker calls this his "french fry" hat. He wore it all weekend, everywhere we went...too cute (he did get some smiles at Ikea) I love the one of Walker looking up at his big brother (who has a french fry hanging out of his mouth!)

DIY

So, I don't know about you...but any time there is a DIY project at the Dudish house, something always goes awry! Today, we were trying to change our front door knob. I want different color knobs on our doors, so I thought I'd do them one at a time, and this was the first one. We got the deadbolt in, only to realize that we had it upside down. There is seriously a little sign on it that says UP with an arrow...and we had it pointing down! Well...now, we can't get the bottom screw out and it's stripped...so I wanna know...when you DIY...does it always work out? Oh...and these pictures are our front door...right now, I have it covered with cardboard!

Updated a few hours later...we got the stripped screw out with pliars and now have a deadbolt in and a door makeover! :) Don't let these pictures fool you...I did the hard part with the pliars!

Finley is 4 months old!

Finley turned 4 months old on July 10, and I can't believe it's seriously already been four months! Time really does fly, and Miss Finley is the sweetest little thing! We went to the doctor yesterday for her four month check and she is a butterball (that we knew!) She weighs in at almost 19 lbs and is 26 1/2 inches long...that's off the charts for a 4 month old (hee hee). The past week, she's been waking up around 11-12 and wanting us to be with her, which she had previously not been doing. I found out the reason is that she now has object permanence, which I learned all about in child development classes. She now has the ability to miss us when we're not with her, so when she wakes up, she knows we're not there, whereas before she just went back to sleep, now she wants us, especially me...to NURSE! Anyway...the doctor said I should let her cry, so we decided we'd start last night. I did this with Mr. Walker and he cried or fussed maybe 15 minutes a few nights and then slept through the night. Although Finley's personality is just as laid back and sweet as his was, I had a feeling that she would not be quite as compliant, and boy was I right! She woke up about 12:15, I went in after 30 minutes, talked to her, gave her back the paci and re-swaddled her. This made her even more mad, and she cried for almost an hour more. About 1:25, she decided to give up the fight and go back to sleep. Now, I can't tell you how terribly awful this is. Baby crying b/c she wants you and you crying b/c you want her too, but you know that it's better to teach them how to sleep now than when they're bigger! So hard, this parenting thing! She woke up very happy this morning! I did nurse her at 6:30 and she went back to sleep until 10!!! She was worn out from the screaming, no doubt! Hopefully tonight will not be as hard! Here are a few pictures I took yesterday!

Neglected Blog

I've been neglecting my blog a bit. I'm not sure why...we've been very busy enjoying our summer! Tony and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary and he got me a flip video camera...so, I've been very busy taking videos. When I have a minute, I'll post some of the videos on here. Last week, we were on vacation, and I have lots of fun videos from that!
