Here Come the Ducks

I can't believe that we went to do something this evening, and I forgot my camera again! After a boring day of just sitting for hours and nothing happening at jury duty, I was ready to be outside. So, after dinner, we took the boys to Briscoe Park (with some old hamburger and hotdog buns and some rye bread that Hudson and Walker didn't like) to feed the ducks. We first went to a small part where there were two white ducks and a mommy duck with babies. Hudson was right on the bank throwing his bread proudly to the two white ducks when the mommy and babies swam over. He was delighted, yelling to them, here's some more bread, ducks. It was too cute. Tony gave Walker a piece of bread and he just held it, didn't want to throw it in. He just watched all the action. Next we walked over to the big pond where people were fishing and where most of the ducks were hanging out. There were maybe 5 ducks where we were that we started throwing our bread to...well, not for long. It was a funny looking thing, to look up and see all the ducks in the pond swimming towards us! Tony and I got tickled, because they were coming in groups from different directions. There were a few geese that came over with their heads held high that didn't fight for the bread. They really looked like they thought they were too good to fight for it. They just waited until it came right to them with no one around. Hudson yelled to these ducks as he was finishing off his bread..."I have two more pieces ducks!" Walker was watching in amazement, and I missed it all on camera...but Tony and I have those sweet memories of our boys and the ducks!

Hudson, the Crib Artist

When I went in to get Hudson from his nap Friday, he had great news for me. "Mommy, I color on my crib!"

I look with horror at what he's talking about...RED crayon colored all over his WHITE crib and his sheet. My horror turns to humor as I realize that I can't really be mad at my 2 year old for being creative with this crayon that somebody let him take in his crib (his Daddy claimed he forgot he let him take it in there the night before, and I had no idea, or I would have removed it before nap!) So, I laughed, took some pictures and then googled how to clean crayon off furniture. Most of it wiped up, but the white crib now looks pink in areas. I'm going to try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and I think that should do it!

Beard of Grits...

I let Walker have his own bowl and spoon of grits at lunch today, and he LOVED it! I don't think I've ever actually seen a beard of grits, but he managed to have it all over...even in his neck!!!

Ahh...What a day

Morning with Granddaddy...

I had a dentist appointment so my daddy came to keep the boys(He also came yesterday, b/c I told the sweet man the wrong day. He drove another hour today to actually keep them and cook them lunch, take them for walks, and play!)

Evening with Grandma...Tony and I went to Piedmont Park tonight with Lori and Justin to take pictures. So, Tony's mom came to keep Hudson and Walker. Before our pictures, we ate at the Flying Biscuit, and while I did see something flying there, it wasn't a biscuit. It was a bird right outside the open windows had we chosen to sit in the outside seating (if you know Tony, you know he NEVER likes the outside seating, well, unless it's winter!) I really liked the place, you should check it out if you're ever in that area. They serve breakfast all day and have some yummy sandwiches. We had fun at the park, Tony and I rolled down this really big hill like we were way younger than we are, and I feel it now! I'll post some pictures of me and Tony (maybe) when we get them!

The Simple Things...

I bought a Scooby Doo Air Popcorn popper years ago as a treat for my kindergarteners with the thoughts that one day my own children would enjoy it too.

Well, that day is here, Hudson and Walker love it. Today, while Walker was still sleeping, Hudson and I got it out and began our popping. I started this thing with the two of them last time that every time something actually popped out of Scooby Doo's mouth, we yelled yay and jumped up...so, of course that's what Hudson wanted to do today. BUT, Walker was sleeping, so we settled for a quiet yay each time we heard a pop. We had so much fun and Hudson kept looking at me with this special gleam in his eye and giving me kisses (you know the best kind...the ones you don't ask for!) He was so excited. After it was over, Hudson was very eager to pose with his Scooby Doo, and I was thinking...it's so great to be a kid and get so much pleasure out of the little things in life like a Scooby Doo air popcorn popper. What are things that you found such joy in as a kid?

Living with Food Allergies

Last night, we went to Tony's softball game at George Pierce Park in Suwanee. It's a beautiful park and the boys had a great time watching their daddy. I cannot believe that I forgot to take my camera, so I have no pictures. At one point, Walker was playing under the bleachers and stuck his little head through, and that's when I realized that I didn't have my camera...it would've been the cutest picture!! Anyway, there were some other kids there who came after us and brought push ups, you know, the orange ice cream filled treats. Well, it always, always, always breaks my heart to see my sweet Hudson looking at treats that he can't have. He always has this look like "that looks so yummy. " Those same kids later pulled out some fruit snacks and again, Hudson looks like he wants to eat one, their mom told him to ask his Mommy. But, I can't just let him eat things like that before I have checked out ingredients and such. I did have a fruit roll-up that I have just found that my boys love made of all organic fruit from company called FruitABu (these are super yummy). So at least I had something for him to have and it satisfied him, but it just breaks my heart that my guy has these allergies. One good thing is that I am sure that Hudson thinks Walker has the same allergies because they always eat the same things, so he doesn't feel alone in his allergicness(don't think that's an actual word, but seems to fit here).

Great Great Granny

How many people can say that they have a great grandmother? Not many. How about a great, great grandmother? Probably even less. Well, my sweet boys have just that and we helped her celebrate her 97th birthday Saturday afternoon. We had the boys nap early, we woke little Walker up from his nap and off we went in the camry(trying to save money...go in the little car on trips that are 30 min. to 1 hour). Walker is really just the sweetest thing...he was so tired, but smiled and laughed with his big brother in the back seat...singing and talking. We had a great time celebrating with our family at the Merryvale Assisted Living Home where Granny lives.

Swimming

Well, we had our first pool experience this year...and Walker LOVED it...Hudson...well, he loved it after a while, but didn't really get in. Lois, who keeps Hudson and Walker when I'm working, the lady who I consider my dear friend, has a pool membership and invited us to come to the pool today. Of course, our air conditioner is broken and so we were late b/c we were waiting on the man to come fix it and I had things to do to get ready for the pool...anyway, we were late. We stopped at Walgreens to get water wings for Hudson and off we went. He was excited about the pool and Wotis, Massew, Liliun (as Hudson says)...until we pull up and he sees it. Then he says no, no go in pool. Well, I love the pool, so I'm like, what? I let Lois hold Walker and I proceed to hold Hudson in the water...he screams. I jump around...he screams more. So, now I'm thinking I'll put Walker in, Hudson will see Walker likes it and then he will too. Well, Walker cries a little b/c the water is so cold, so I try Hudson again...more screaming. Finally, I just let Hudson play outside of the pool and Walker gets in his float where he stays content as he could be the whole time we were at the pool...except when we were eating of course. Hudson warmed up to the water, right about the time we needed to leave for naps...sitting on the side, kicking and splashing...I was so proud that he did this on his own, I had to take some pictures.

New Blog

I enjoy writing things and thought that a new blog would be a way for me to write down things that we do and be able to share with our family and friends that we don't get to see all the time. Children grow so fast and I thought this would be a good way for me to chronicle their little lives and look back and see their changes. So, for my coming out into blog world, let me say Happy Anniversary to my sweet one, Tony. We celebrated 6 years yesterday, and boy does time fly...I love you up, Tony Dudish!
